BEAUFORT, SC — This month, some 15,000 Semifinalists nationwide were notified by mail that they had advanced to Finalist standing and four of those students are from Holy Trinity Classical Christian School.
Holy Trinity announced this week the names of the four seniors from the first graduating class that advanced: Sydney Lawrence, Caroline O’Neal, Morgan Chumney, and Sarah Lawrence. These four students were named as Semifinalists in September and went through a qualifying process that includes providing their academic record, the school’s curricula and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score, a written recommendation provided by their school, information about the student’s activities and leadership, and the Finalist’s own essay in order to advance to Finalist standing.
Beginning in March and continuing to mid-June, over half of these Finalists will be selected to receive a Merit Scholarship® award. All winners of Merit Scholarship® awards are chosen from the Finalist group based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments.
Holy Trinity Guidance Counsellor, Tara Gaillard, remarked, “What a joy to celebrate these four incredibly gifted and hardworking students being recognized as National Merit Finalists! On paper, they stand out because of their exceptionally high achievements, but what cannot be seen on paper is their hearts. They have learned the Biblical truth that whatever they do, they do for the glory of the Lord. This principle will guide and direct them beyond the walls of Holy Trinity Classical Christian School and has prepared them to continually seek knowledge, wisdom, truth and beauty in the world around them. What an honor and privilege to see them graduate and fly! May they soar and may God receive the glory.”
