Chapel & House

Together, chapel and House are times for students to build biblical literacy, grow in their relationship with God and with others, practice biblical leadership and biblical community.

Chapel +

Students meet multiple times per week in grade level groups (Pre-school, K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th) to be led by Christian adults in worship and biblical message. Our chapel reflects our Anglican heritage by using common, historical prayers recitations. We believe that these patterns connect us to the historical church across time and place, and that reciting them together reminds us that we live as individuals in a common community of faith.

Chapel includes the singing of “hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs” that reflect the diversity of Christian worship. And generally speaking, messages follow the path of redemptive history through Scripture. Our aim with chapel is help students understand the story of the Bible as the story of human history, knowing that they as individuals live out a particular role in that story.
House +

Students in grades 7-12 are organized into groups called “Houses.” Each House has its own particular identity, and acts as a “space” in which students can experience community on a smaller scale within the larger school population.

Students are nominated for and elected to specific roles within the House, which gives students responsibility and opportunities to exercise leadership. Members of the House can earn “points” for their House by participating in and excelling in periodic games, attending and showing school spirit at events, participating in community service, and a variety of other activities that give students with differing abilities, gifts, and talents, to support and contribute to the life of the community.

House is another layer of our school culture that is meant to foster a “pride of belonging” and connection among students and with the caring adults that are part of their lives on campus.
