Portrait of a Graduate

By God’s grace and for His glory, Holy Trinity graduates will take their next steps into adult life as joyful citizens, equipped for a lifelong path of growing in wisdom, maturing in virtue, and pursuing excellence in Christ.

Growing in Wisdom +

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom,
and whatever you get, get insight.
Prize her highly, and she will exalt you;
she will honor you if you embrace her.
She will place on your head a graceful garland;
she will bestow on you a beautiful crown.
(Proverbs 4:7-9)

Wisdom begins with accepting God’s revealed Truth as it is recorded in the Bible. We flourish when God’s word shapes our understanding of the world and guides our thoughts, actions, and interactions with others. Living wisely results in a life well-lived.

Maturing in Virtue +

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence . . .

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. (2 Peter 1:3, 5-8)

God’s word challenges us and changes us to be more like Jesus, growing in our ability to practice prudence, self-control, justice, courage, faith, hope, and love. As the Holy Spirit matures our character, we learn to live with dignity, grace, and joy.

Pursuing Excellence +

Joyful Citizens . . . in Christ +

Build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply there, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. (Jeremiah 29:5-7)

In Christ, God’s people hold dual citizenship – citizenship in His Kingdom and citizenship in the place of their physical life. As He works redemptively in His people, God calls them to use their gifts, skills, and talents, to be a redemptive presence and blessing the communities in which we live.

Equipped for a Lifelong Path +

Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.
(Proverbs 22:6)

The course of study, instruction, formative experiences, and models that Holy Trinity provides can give a student tools for living a life of continuous learning and growth. As the Holy Spirit guides, students will be equipped to follow His direction into the adult life He purposes for them, for their good, the good of the world, and His glory.
