The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and the birth and growth of the early Christian church took place in the historical context of classical Greece and Rome. These first Christians would have seen that universal and unchanging Truth, Beauty, and Goodness are found in the character of God and revealed to us in His word. Through God’s redemptive work in Jesus, and the work of His Spirit, His people learn to live according to God’s word. They grow in His wisdom, mature in virtue as embodied in the life of Jesus, and pursue excellence in all things as a loving response to an excellent God.
